How much does a typical new pool cost?
The simple answer to a complex question is “It depends.” Prices can range from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of pounds. The cost is driven by many factors, such as the design of the pool, its size and location, whether it is indoors or outside, whether it is to be heated, and if so, will it be used all year round, etc. The best way to get an accurate estimate is to call or email us for a personalised quote.
How long does it take to build a pool?
The simple answer to a complex question is “It depends”. The time taken to complete a pool build depends on things like the design of the pool, its size and location, whether it is indoors or outside, whether it is to be heated and if so, whether it will be used all year round, and perhaps most importantly, the weather, etc. A simple above-ground pool typically takes around 2-3 weeks compared with a complex in-ground concrete pool, which could take 2-3 months. The best way to get an accurate estimate is to call or email us for a personalised quote.
When is the best time to construct a pool/spa?
The weather is a major factor, so it’s not always dependent on the time of year but more on when the weather is not too hot, not too cold, and not too wet. Generally speaking, we build most pools from April to October, with the Summer months being favoured due to lower water tables and temperatures above 5 degrees being vital during any building process.
Pool running costs
How much does it cost to heat a pool?
The simple answer to a complex question is “It depends”. The cost is driven by many factors, such as the design of the pool, its size and location, whether it is indoors or outside, whether it is to be heated all year round, how eco-friendly your pool is, etc. Small above ground electric heating ranges from £500, to £10,000 for an all-year round Heat Pump in a large inground pool. The best way to get an accurate estimate is to call or email us for a personalised quote.
Can I use my pool all year round?
Yes. The typical season is from April to October. You can use the pool all year round with effective heating and insulation.
How to service a pool?
Regular servicing is important when it comes to swimming pools. The most common way to clean a pool is with a net, followed by vacuuming to remove larger debris, backwashing the pump and filtration system, and finally, applying chemical or mineral treatments.
Pool/spa refurb
Can you refresh or update my pool or Spa rather than building a new one from scratch?
Yes. The cost of refurbishment is usually significantly less than a complete rebuild. A few refreshed items, e.g., chlorine washing the pool surround, can make a huge difference for very little cost. Call or email us now for more information.
What’s the typical cost to refurbish vs new build?
The simple answer to a complex question is “It depends.” Prices can range from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of pounds. The cost is driven by many factors, such as the design of the pool, its size and location, whether it is indoors or outdoors, whether it is to be heated and, if so, will it be used all year round, etc. Typically, costs range from £20k—£60k for refurbishment and £60k—£200,000k for a new-build outdoor pool.

How often do I need to service my pool?
This depends on the type of pool, size, and location. It can be weekly for the customer who just wants to enjoy their pool worry-free or monthly for a hands-on person who can clean and check the chemicals themselves in between services.
Should I empty my pool at the end of the season each year?
It is strongly recommended that you do not. Groundwater levels are highest during the winter months, and a high water table could and probably would seriously damage an empty swimming pool. Also, it is not environmentally friendly to regularly empty and refill a pool when there is no technical need to do so.
Groundworks
Can you deal with any groundworks for my new pool or is this done by another company?
Yes. However, your HLL warranty will be affected and will not cover any subsequent damage to your pool, parts, or faults resulting from faulty or defective groundworks.

Reducing your pool’s carbon footprint
How can I make my pool more eco-friendly?
- Allow us to install a HeatForm insulated Pool System. It’s made from 100% recycled plastic PET bottles and can reduce the pool’s energy consumption by 50% compared with a concrete construction pool
- Install a solar pool cover to trap solar heat and greatly reduce evaporation and convection
- Use LED or solar-powered lighting
- Use a saltwater chlorinator that uses electrolysis to convert salt to chlorine gas. The gas dissolves instantaneously into water, greatly reducing the amount of manmade chemicals you will need to add to it.
- Install eco-friendly pool heating – Solar and Heat pumps
- Avoid heating and using an outdoor pool in cooler autumn and winter months
